Un lago, escondido en el lecho del Cañón del Río Diamante. Aunque no un lago oriundo, sino un lago artificial.
Se trata de un lugar de increíble belleza. En las cercanías se encuentra el Salto del Colorado, cascada formada en el Arroyo Salado, que resulta hermosa por el color de la roca. Vale la pena también, el circuito de los lagos y embalses de los Ríos Diamante y Atuel.

It is a lake that even today seems to be hidden from man’s hand, although it has not been hidden in the past and it is not really hidden today. Puelo Lake’s Valley was originated by Glacial melt-waters. It is narrow and elongated, and travelled in its middle zone by the Blue and Quemquemtreu Rivers which, together with other water courses, nourishes the Valley’s ecosystem.
It is a replica of one of the columns of Cyrus II’s Palace in Persepolis, who ruled Persia in the VI century (b.C). He was considered to be the father of the Persian Empire. The Palace was constructed in between the VIth and Vth centuries b.C. by Darius II, king of the same dinasty, and his son Xerxes I.
The Palace of the Waters, located in 1750 Cordoba Avenue, is a great mansion, whose doors, windows and arcades constitute an impressive scenography, which holds inside of its four monumental facades the Great Central Deposit of Gravitation of Tap Water.
Portezuelo's Slope, when observed from a thousand meters height, surrounded by the silence of the dawn, covered by clouds, letting through first one ray and afterwards many others; of a sun that does not intend to dazzle the viewers with backlighting, while it filters magically through Catamarca’s landscape as was so perfectly described by the Argentine folklorist Polo Gimenez.
